Newport doctor joins Oakwood Healthcare

Anke Robinson, MD, a family medicine physician with a long history in the downriver community, has joined the Oakwood Healthcare System.

Dr. Robinson practices at the Oakwood Healthcare Center—Newport and is affiliated with the Oakwood Southshore Medical Center (OSMC) in Trenton and the Oakwood Hospital & Medical Center (OHMC) in Dearborn, where she was once the chief resident. She lists teen health, women’s health, preventive medicine and obesity management among her special interests.

She said she decided to go into medicine after a seven year stint as an international marine cargo supervisor—the line of work that first brought her father to the U.S. from Germany during the 1960s—examining everything from steel coils to olives at ports throughout the Midwest.

Dr. Robinson earned her B.S. and Master’s Degree in Biology from the University of Detroit and her Doctorate of Medicine from Wayne State University. Board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, she was the chief resident at OHMC from 2001-2002 and has worked in family practice since 2002.

A Grosse Ile resident, Dr. Robinson has been active in the community, too, including time as the vice-president of the National Organization for Women—Downriver Chapter.

Dr. Robinson’s office is in North Park Plaza, located at 3132 Newport Road, Suite 107 in Newport. Call 734.586.9120 for an appointment.
