Health Care Weekly Review is Michigan’s independent health care news source. We report on health care issues that give health care professionals and consumers current information about the health care landscape. We send our readers breaking news alerts daily as well as news stories published straight to our website. Subscribers get weekly electronic versions of the publication and monthly print issues which are printed in Birmingham Michigan, and then distributed to over 200 locations within 27 Michigan counties that include major hospitals, medical centers, colleges and universities.

Mark Spiess – Partner, Publisher
Mark has been with Health Care Weekly Review since 2007. Previous to becoming Publisher, Mark was the Director of Sales.
Mark is President of Biz Solutions One. Together with their strategic partners, Biz Solutions One provides solutions for businesses in the areas of Human Resources, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Strategy, Finance and Information Technology. Prior to coming to Health Care Weekly Review, he owned a business in the automotive industry and worked in the government sector. He is also active in multiple chamber, networking and alumni groups.
Mark is a graduate of Walsh College with a Bachelors degree in Marketing. He also obtained his Executive MBA from Northwood University, DeVos Graduate School of Management. You can contact Mark at mspiess@hcwreview.com
Nick Pyykkonen – Partner, Director of Development
Nick Pyykkonen came to Health Care Weekly Review in January 2010, acting as the Director of Business Development
Nick has worked as a financial planner and consultant for William Mack and Associates, Inc., a prominent wealth management firm in Troy Michigan. Nick is President/Chairman and Founder of the Pink Rose Inspirational Foundation, dedicating to funding programs that improve the quality of life for patients and survivors of breast cancer. He is also Founder and CEO of both Pyykkonen Real Estate Investments and Pyykkonen Enterprises.
Nick has a BBA in Banking and Finance and Management, and an AA in Economics and Language Arts from Northwood University. Nick is designated as a CFS or Certified Fund Specialist from the Institute of Business and Finance.
David Martin – Editor in Chief
David is CEO of the Martin Group Incorporated. He is past president of The Advertising Club of Detroit, the largest marketing and advertising club in the world. David is a member of the board of directors and former president of the Michigan Advertising Industry Association, a group designed to represent the business interests of Michigan marketer, advertising agencies and media sales organizations in state of Michigan. David is also a member of the Oakland University School of Nursing Visitors Board.
Suha Costy – Graphic Designer
Suha is the graphic designer at Art & Design in Northville, Michigan. Suha has over 18 years of extensive experience in graphic design and desktop publishing. Suha also has experience in small business branding and marketing with a concentration in ad specialties and promotional products. She has developed brand identities, promotional product artwork and advertisements for clients in politics, retail, high tech, professional services, hospitality and health care industries. She has the ability to produce a wide variety of graphic products including displays, newsletters, campaign literature, business cards, letterheads, postcards, corporate identity, forms, menus, promotional material, invitations, fliers, hard cover books as well as a variety of training materials. Suha obtained her Bachelor of Arts from Wayne State University.
Peter Starr – Editor at Large
Peter Starr is an international winning documentary filmmaker who spent 35 years in the television and film industries. Following a diagnosis of cancer, Starr studied natural medicine as it relates to curing cancer without drugs, surgery or radiation. This study led to the production of an extensive documentary on the subject and much time spend coaching men with prostate cancer. Starr is an author and published writer in many national special interest magazines. When not studying natural medicine and making films Starr is an avid motorcycle enthusiast.
Ashley recently received her degree in English and journalism from Brigham Young University. She has experience in editing and publishing and worked as a copy editor for a campus newspaper during her undergraduate. Ashley also has experience in graphic design and enjoys photography and editing photos in Adobe Photoshop.
Megan Roers – Assistant Editor
Having recently graduated from Grand Valley State University, Megan received a B.S. degree with majors in both English and Psychology. In addition to working with HCWR, she is a journalist and photographer for a monthly entertainment publication in Macomb County. Megan enjoys working with event photography and is currently in the process of building a professional portfolio.
Amanda VanHooser – Marketing Coordinator
Amanda currently attends Central Michigan University. She will be graduating August of this year with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a major in Marketing. When she is not interning at Health Care Weekly Review, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family.
